James Smith named CEO of Composite Technology Development

CTD is very proud to welcome James Smith as our new CEO. Jim has diverse and proven global leadership experience in business & commercial management, manufacturing and supply chain logistics, as well as extensive knowledge in silane & silicone chemistry and processing.

As COO of NuSil Technology, Jim oversaw all manufacturing, R&D and supply chain operations of this global supplier of ultra-high-purity materials for medical and aerospace market applications. Prior to joining NuSil in 2013, Jim spent 25 years at Dow Corning in various executive roles, including Vice President of Specialty Chemicals Business, Vice President of Manufacturing and Business Management, Midland Site Manager and Executive Director of Global Logistics.

Jim spent several years in Asia, specifically Shanghai, where he oversaw the China division of Dow Corning’s specialty chemicals business. During his tenure in Asia, Jim led Dow Corning’s acquisition of Nippon Unicar, a strategic expansion for the company in specialty silicones and organo-functional silanes for the Asia/Pacific market.
