CTD Awarded an SBIR by the Office of Naval Research
April 4, 2022
CTD was awarded a Phase I SBIR by the US Navy – Office of Naval Research (ONR) to develop a novel capability for a Lightweight, Compact, and Cost-effective Gaseous Hydrogen Storage System for unmanned vehicles. Work on each Phase I begins in June of 2022, lasting through March of 2023. This award continues the more than 30 year legacy of CTD delivering advanced material solutions.
This technology will advance CTD’s lightweight pressure vessel capabilities by advancing the state-of-the-art for high performance, high storage density, hydrogen pressure vessels for unmanned airborne systems (UAS). CTD’s commercial lightweight, microcrack resistant, high strength resins will be supported by the novel liner material concept demonstrated in this research and development effort that CTD developed which is both faster and cheaper to produce than traditional polymer liners for the required operating pressures of a gaseous hydrogen (GH2) UAS system.
